After installing Ultimate Special Offers, we recommend setting up a simple offer to get a feel for the settings and to make sure the app is installed on your theme properly. In this article, we’ll walk through the steps of creating a simple Discount offer and testing the offer on your storefront.
Step 1
Click Create special offer in the top-right corner of your Ultimate Special Offers dashboard and select Discount from the offer list.
On the Discount offer setup page, start by giving your offer a name. This name is just a label to help you identify your offers; customers won’t see it.
For now, set Visibility to Disabled. This will allow you to preview your finished Discount offer before making it available to customers.
Step 2
Next, pick some products, collections, or variants to include in your offer. For example, if you choose a single variant of a t-shirt, only that variant will get the discount. You can also target a t-shirt and all its variants by selecting that product, or an entire collection of t-shirts by selecting a collection. If you want every item in your store to get the discount, click Select all collections.
Once you’ve selected the items you want to include in your offer, choose a discount for the offer. You can set a percentage discount, dollar-amount discount, or a new price discount. If you set a new price discount, make sure the new price is lower than the original price.
When you’ve targeted your items and set a discount level, you’ll see a summary of how your offer will work.
Step 3
After items have been selected and the discount level has been set, set up the presentation of your Discount offer. Adjusting these settings will determine how your offer appears to customers on your storefront.
First, choose to enable or disable sale badges. Sale badges are an optional feature and are displayed on products you've included in your offer. Custom sale badges can be created and adjusted within the offer setup page, and visual customizations can be made to the default badge in your Appearance settings.
Then, write some messages for your offer. These messages will show as banners on the storefront, and visual customizations can be made to these banners in your Appearance settings. The Notification message will show when customers are on an eligible product or collection page, and the Success message will show once customers have added an eligible item to their cart and the Discount offer has been applied.
Step 4
Lastly, set the Availability settings for your Discount offer. These settings let you select when, where, and to whom your offer appears.
- Select a sales channel for your offer. Your offer can apply to the Online Store sales channel, the point of sale (POS) sales channel, or both. Click here to learn more about using Ultimate Special Offers and Shopify POS.
- Set an optional start and end date for your offer. The time is set to your browser‘s timezone and uses a 24-hour clock.
- Choose to allow only customers logged in with a certain tag to use your offer. Leave this option unchecked to let everyone use your offer.
- Choose to exclude customers logged in with a certain tag from using your offer. Leave this option unchecked to let everyone use your offer.
- Enter a keyword if you want to create a special URL that customers need in order to use your offer. Leave this field blank to let anyone use your offer.

Step 5
Once you’ve gone through each stage of your Discount offer setup and you’re ready to test it out, click Save. Since the Visibility setting is set to Disabled, you can test the offer privately without customers seeing it. To test your offer, click Preview in the top-right corner of the offer setup page. This will take you to your storefront where you can privately preview your offer.
Try adding one of the items you selected to the cart. Check to make sure the discount works in the cart, the banners show up, and the discount still applies when you enter the checkout. If anything doesn’t seem right, go back to your offer settings and walk through these steps one more time to make sure nothing was missed. If anything still doesn’t work quite right, contact our support team and we’ll be happy to help out.
